Privacy policy

This is a courtesy translation. This website is operated from Germany; the German version is the legally binding one.

This website is purely informational. There are no user accounts, no comment function, no newsletter and no contact form. Accordingly, very little data is collected.

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place.

When you open the site, the server automatically processes access data transmitted by your browser: IP address, date and time of access, the file requested, volume of data transferred, status message, browser type and operating system, and the page previously visited. This data is technically necessary to deliver the site and keep it secure. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; my legitimate interest lies in the technical provision and protection of the site. The data is not merged with other sources and not evaluated for advertising purposes.

3. Visitor counting without cookies

This website sets no cookies, uses no third-party analytics services and embeds no advertising networks. To understand how the site is found and used, I run a deliberately minimal count on my own server. It records: the page called up, the name of the referring site (only its host, such as “google.com”, never the full address), a rough classification of the window width as phone, tablet or desktop, the browser language and the time spent on the page.

Nothing is stored on or read from your device — no cookies and no comparable technique. Section 25 of the German TDDDG therefore does not apply and no consent banner is required. Your IP address is not stored: it is shortened in memory (the last quarter is dropped) and then combined with a daily changing random value into an identifier that cannot be reversed. That identifier only serves to count several page views on the same day as one visit; on the following day the same person produces a different identifier. Recognition across days, combination with other data and any inference about your identity are therefore ruled out.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in being able to judge the reach and clarity of my site; given the minimal data described, your interests do not override it. The data never leaves my server and is deleted automatically after twelve months. I use the same counting on my other sites; that data is collected here as well.

4. Fonts and external content

The fonts used are loaded locally from my own web server. No connection to third-party servers — such as Google Fonts — takes place. Images and icons are served from the same server.

The site links to external offerings, among them esgvibe.org and setcount.de. Data is only transmitted to those providers once you click such a link. Their own privacy policies then apply.

5. Contact by e-mail

If you write to me, I process your e-mail address, your name and the content of your message solely in order to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the matter concerns the initiation or performance of a contract, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR based on my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. I delete messages once the matter is settled, unless statutory retention periods apply.

6. Your rights

You have the right to information about the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and a right to object (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal message to the address above is sufficient.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for my place of residence is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

7. Data security

The site is delivered exclusively over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Requests over HTTP are redirected automatically.

8. Changes to this policy

I update this policy when the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here always applies.
